What is a Lobe Compressor?

Lobe compressors are positive displacement air compressors that use two rotating lobes to compress air. The lobes are shaped like figure-8s, and they intermesh to trap and compress air as they rotate.

Working of Lobe Compressor

Lobe compressors work on the positive displacement principle, where air is trapped in the space between the intermeshing lobes and compressed as the lobes rotate. The inlet port allows air to enter the compression chamber and the rotation of the lobes forces the air towards the outlet port where it is discharged at a high pressure.
